Philanthropic Programs

Operation School Bell® in cooperation with school administrators, provides needed items and services to pre-school, elementary, middle and high school children in Placer County and parts of El Dorado and Nevada Counties. School supplies, backpacks and personal grooming kits are distributed and children in need of clothing receive a specific amount of money to shop with a parent at a local store. Dictionaries are given to third grade students and tutoring programs serve elementary students. 

Competencies for Independent Living provides knowledge of life skills for students ages 11 to 18 enrolled in court-ordered schools. Instruction is given in areas of health, personal grooming, money management, housing, housekeeping, educational planning and interpersonal and job-seeking skills. These courses foster stability and promote successful independent living and positive self esteem.

Sierra Bears provides teddy bears to hospital emergency rooms and to California Highway Patrol units to offer comfort and reassurance to traumatized children.

Dressing for Success provides job-appropriate clothing to women and men entering or re-entering the work force who are enrolled in job training classes.

Assault Survivor Kits® provide clothing and personal items for victims of assault. 

Angels for Aging provides visits, gifts and cards to senior care residents.

Scholarships for Competencies Students provides annual scholarships to trade schools and community colleges for high school graduates (including GED certificate holders) who participate in ALGP's Competency for Independent Living Program.
